BLOOMINGTON-NORMAL COMMUNITY COOPERATIVE
We are a handful of homeschooling families who have been meeting together weekly for more than a year, and are creating a place for our children to have a more classroom-like environment. Along with offering our kids new experiences, we want to utilize the wide range of skills among the home educators in our group - especially in subject matter that is cumbersome to complete with just a couple of kids or that is outside of our comfort zones.
As we have been meeting together consistently, with transparency and a commitment to building community, we have found a way to better navigate some of the challenges and isolation that can come with homeschooling. While we are all Christian, we come from a variety of backgrounds and aim to promote unity and ecumenism within our group. We have chosen to focus on that which draws us together and builds one another up, while making space for differing opinions in individual doctrines and interpretations.
We will be getting together at parks throughout the summer, please check our Facebook Page or email us for details! We would love to get to know you!!
Registration for our 2020-2021 school year will open on July 13th! We will be meeting for two ten week semesters: with the fall semester occurring from 9/14/20 – 11/23/20, taking October 12th, Columbus Day, off and the spring semester occurring 1/11/21 – 3/22/21, with February 15th, Presidents’ Day, off. Our classes will meet every Monday morning from 9:30-11:00 AM at St Matthews Episcopal Church in Bloomington.
Due to how fast community gathering opportunities are changing right now, our registration will be open only form July 13, 2020 to August 1, 2020. We wanted to push registration as late in the summer as we could, so we could make a reasonable guess at whether we can feasibly meet this school year and still allow our lead teachers adequate time to plan. As all fees are being used to purchase supplies, we will not be able to offer refunds should circumstances require us to cancel any of our school year.
We require parents to remain on campus with their children. As we are a cooperative, we look forward to making the most of our different interests and skills to the benefit of all of our children! While we expect each parent to help out in some capacity we will work with you and your availability during the different seasons of parenting!
To register please fill out this form. Fees can be paid in cash or check (payable to Amy Hertel) and are due in full upon registration. They are non-refundable. Registration slip and fee can be brought to a park meet up or arranged by email at email@example.com.
